Czech Para Dance Sport SUT

It was established as a subsidiary association of the Union of Dance Teachers and oversees wheelchair dance in the Czech Republic. It expands opportunities for wheelchair dance sport across the country, organizing training camps for both beginner and elite dance couples, dance league competitions, and international sports events.

It is an affiliated member of the Czech Paralympic Committee and the managing entity for the National Sports Agency for Wheelchair Dance.

The international umbrella organization for CPDS is WorldAbilitySport, where it joined in 2024 after transferring from the International Paralympic Committee along with the entire World Para Dance Sport unit.

In 2021, Czech Para Dance Sport organized the historic first World Cup in wheelchair dance in the Czech Republic on August 15th-16th, 2021, at the Clarion Hotel in Prague, followed by the European Para Dance Championship the following year from October 28th-30th, 2022. In 2023, we continued with successful organization hosting the Prague 2023 WPDS International Competition on October 7th-8th, 2023.

We draw on our experience of organising international dance competitions and are based on the brief of the International Paralympic Committee. Peter Vidasic, a three-time World Para Dance Sport Champion from Slovakia, works with us as an advisor.
